TBCSA welcomes the appointment of a new South African Tourism Board and CEO

Pretoria, 29 February 2024

The Tourism Business Council of South Africa (TBCSA) has noted and welcomes the appointment of a new Board and CEO at South African Tourism (SAT). We are enthused and optimistic that the new Board, led by Ms. Makhosazana Khanyile and newly appointed CEO Ms. Nombulelo Guliwe, will continue to cement the work currently underway to stabilise and carry forward the organisation’s operational imperatives.

We believe that a fully-functional destination marketing body such as South African Tourism, plays a critical role in elevating the country’s image as an attractive tourist destination to the world. Through marketing, we are confident that we will be able to achieve our industry-wide ambition of increasing arrivals into South Africa to our stated goal of 21 million, by the year 2030. It is through these arrivals we would then be able to boost the tourism sector’s contribution to the country’s economy and in turn create much-needed jobs.

TBCSA Board Chairperson, Jerry Mabena, in welcoming the new SAT executives said, “We look forward to working closely with South African Tourism to leverage its role of promoting tourism here at home, regionally, and to the international source markets. We will support the SAT Board and CEO as they go about this very important job”.
