ABOUT THE CONFERENCE
The Tourism Business Council of South Africa (TBCSA) is organising the 3rd TBCSA tourism leadership conference, which will take place from 18-20 September 2024, at the Sun City Resort, North West province, South Africa. Coinciding with tourism month and the beginning of spring, the conference will be held under the Theme: “Why Tourism Matters”. The theme of the conference aims to highlight the significant contribution of the tourism sector for South Africa’s economy, not only as a stand-alone but as a sector that feeds into many other sectors that keep SA’s engine going. Attendees at the conference can expect a dynamic program featuring insightful keynote speakers, engaging discussions, and interactive sessions aimed at finding solutions to the country’s tourism sector, for it to continue being sustainable and competitive.
For this to happen, the private sector, public sector, academia, and media practitioners, will come together to share knowledge and focus on how to help South Africa achieve its goal of 15.6 million arrivals by 2030.
Key topics that will be discussed at this year’s conference include but not limited to;
- Visas and how they drive SA’s increased arrivals
- Tourism safety
- The working relationship between the private and public sector for the good of tourism
- The sustainability of SMMEs in the tourism sector
- How to improve the marketing of destination South Africa

GOLF DAY: WHAT TO EXPECT
The countdown has begun! We are just a few weeks away from our much-anticipated TBCSA Tourism Leadership Conference Golf Day, and we couldn’t be more excited to have you join us for a day of golf, networking, fun, and friendly competition.
- Tee Times: Scheduled from 9:00 to 12:00 off the 1st Tee. Times will be sent out 7 days prior to the event.
- Handicap Index: Golfers without a handicap index will be placed into the clinic.
- Clinic Details: The clinic will be held at Lost City driving range from 14:00.
- Golf Carts: There are no carts available at Gary Player Country Club unless you have a medical letter.
- Golf Clubs: Clubs can be hired from the pro shop at Gary Player Country Club at your own cost. Please contact the Pro Shop at 014 557 3455 to make arrangements.
- Waitlist: The golf day and clinic are fully booked. The waitlist is now on a first-come, first-served basis.

WHO IS ATTENDING?
The annual TBCSA Tourism Leadership Conference is expected to attract just over 400 delegates. Registration will close in August 2023.
WHAT WILL IT COST ME?
Attendance to this year’s conference will be R990.00. This includes entrance to the conference, all meals, and entertainment.

ACCOMMODATION
The TBCSA has secured accommodation at Sun International for delegates at a discounted rate from 18 – 20 September 2024.
LEISURE ACTIVITIES
Mankwe GAMETRACKERS, based at the iconic Sun City resort next to the malaria free Big Five Pilanesberg National Park, is the largest outdoor adventure activity business in the North West province of South Africa. We conduct Game Drives, Bush Walks and Hot Air Balloon Safaris inside Pilanesberg National Park, and Quad Biking, Archery, Chimp & Zee rope adventure course, Team Building activities, and The Wallow, (a catered venue), inside the resort.
