BUSA INVITE: IMPACT OF THE 4TH INDUSTRIAL REVOLUTION
Professor Imraan Valodia, Dean of Faculty of Commerce, Law and Management at Wits University, invites you to a breakfast discussion on the 4th Industrial Revolution with Dr James Manyika.
Dr Manyika is the Chair and Director of the McKinsey Global Institute (MGI) where he heads research on global economic and technology trends.
Living largely in a digital era, the 4th Industrial Revolution for now is a loosely defined concept, which in some instances has taken form. The importance of attending this discussion is due the fact that the 4th Industrial Revolution will have a direct impact on employment and the future of work, most specifically manual labour.
The most simplistic understanding of this concept is that technology will take the place of many workers, effectively leaving their positions humanly redundant. However, while this may be the way forward in terms of advancing technology, it has definite pros and cons. Attend this discussion to learn more about how this impending 4th Industrial Revolution is likely to affect you and your business. The invitation details are as follows:
- Topic: Using the 4th Industrial Revolution to build a more equitable society – thoughts on the Future of Work.
- Date: 31 August 2018
- Time: 08:30 – 10:00
