FOOD FOR THOUGHT: This week we encourage members to reflect on a recent article published on bizcommunity.com. in the context of Tourism Month.  The article suggests South Africans are still prepared to spend on international travel despite the economic downturn.  Titled Domestic travel takes a dip, but appetite for international travel remains healthy. The article quotes a number of travel agents who point out that consumers “are shopping around for the best international travel deals and “are prepared to pay more when presented with an option that gives them better value”.  This is certainly GREAT news for outbound travel.  It clearly indicates that there remains a significant portion of the market with the financial means and appetite to travel internationally instead of locally – what does this mean for the local domestic trade?  Read More
