GOVERNMENT ALLOCATES R74M TO W/CAPE TO RESPOND TO PERSISTENT DROUGHT
As the World Water Week Forum opened in Stockholm, the South African government announced it would allocate R74m in relief funding to respond to the persistent drought in the Western Cape. The announcement comes after the National Disaster Management Centre declared the province’s drought situation as a disaster after conducting assessments in June and July this year. It also indicated that the upcoming winter rainfall forecast for the Western Cape is still uncertain and that water dam levels remain at an undesirable level. We urge all members to set the Tourism example by using water wisely and encouraging your clientele to do likewise.
