FEDHASA Cape share industry tips with budding entrepreneurs
To cultivate a culture of entrepreneurship in the hospitality industry, the Federated Hospitality Association of South Africa (FEDHASA) Cape region in partnership with Ikhaya Le Langa teamed-up with promising entrepreneurs in the community for a day of advice and tip sharing on pertinent topics involving the hospitality industry.
Ikhaya Le Langa is a not-for-profit organisation operating as an enterprise development centre in Langa. The organisation’s lead project, ‘The Langa Quarter’ is its first social enterprise project and directly supports the 40-bed Langa Quarter Homestay Hotel, comprising 20 families, most of whom are first-time entrepreneurs.
To support the initiative, FEDHASA Cape Board members engaged in workshops with homestay owners, caterers and potential tour guides around the key requirements when operating in the hospitality industry. How to manage a budget was at the top of the list and members also offered some operational tips and learnings, as well as customer service etiquette.
“We had a productive and successful day at Langa Quarter. As one of FEDHASA Cape’s CSI projects for 2017, we were glad to ‘give back’ to up-and-coming entrepreneurs in equipping them with basic tools on how to start and operate a sustainable small business and encouraging business-to-business partnerships” says FEDHASA Cape chairperson, Jeff Rosenberg. /Ends.
