IATA REPORT: AFRICA AMONGST STANDOUT REGIONAL PERFORMERS IN 2016
The latest International Air Transport Association (IATA) Regional Economic Outlook Report for 2016 shows that African carriers outperformed the aviation industry aggregate, growing by 6.5%. In addition, traffic on routes between Africa and the Middle East increased by an impressive 18.1%.
On the global front, 2016 was a year of two halves for the air transport industry. The year started with moderate air traffic growth due to a combination of headwinds including terrorist attacks, political instability and subdued economic activity. In contrast, 2016 ended on a positive note with both passenger and freight volumes growing at multi-year highs. Click here to view the report
