BUSA WORKSHOP ON ADMINISTRATIVE BURDEN FOR SMMEs 16 – 21 FEB 2017
The focus areas of the workshop:
- Reporting and registration requirements, with a focus on national laws, especially around taxation, labour law compliance and the Companies and Intellectual Property Commission registration;
- State procurement procedures, which militate against small business in a variety of ways, ranging from the large scale of many contracts to rules against up-front payments; and
- Broad-Based Black Economic Empowerment (B-BBEE) compliance, which acts to reduce barriers to entry for new black-owned businesses but maybe a burden on smaller white-owned businesses;
- The construction industry, which is subject to sector-specific regulation by both national and municipal government.
