The annual Tourism Indaba is once again upon us. This year, SA Tourism has promised to deliver a more trade-focussed show with a greater level of emphasis on quality. As you finalise your Indaba diary, please note the following key activities wherein the TBCSA and TOMSA will be involved:

Friday, 6 May:

Indaba Ministerial Dialogue, 17:00 – 21:30, Moyo, uShaka Marine World
TBCSA will be represented in the Indaba Ministerial Dialogue titled, Brand Africa: Realising Africa’s Tourism Destination Potential. The session is a platform for policy makers and sector role-players to deliberate on emerging tourism trends, opportunities and challenges facing the sector. It typically includes the attendance of Tourism Ministers and representatives from other African countries.

Saturday, 7 May:

Minister’s Media Panel, 11:00 – 12:00, ICC Auditorium
TBCSA CEO will participate in a media panel hosted by CNN’s Richard Quest, titled The role of tourism in generating economic growth. The panel will also include our Minister of Tourism, Derek Hanekom and Gillian Saunders, Head of Advisory Services at Grant Thornton. The TBCSA will be sharing a business perspective on the topic, the impact of policy in generating growth and working relations with Government.

Trade Talk on TOMSA, 16:00 – 17:00, ICC Meeting Room 21
As part of our ongoing collaboration with SA Tourism, we have managed to secure a slot for a trade talk on TOMSA. Presented by the TBCSA CEO, the discussion will focus on TOMSA and its value and impact.

Sunday, 8 May

Sunday Times Finders Keepers Pre-Launch Activation, 13:00 – 14:00 SA Tourism stand
Be sure not to miss our Sunday Times Finders Keepers Campaign brought to you by TOMSA pre-launch activation. This will be held at the SA Tourism stand in the DEC hall. The main competition and campaign will be officially launched in June, however we are giving our TOMSA levy contributors and travel trade-at-large a sneak-peak of the campaign and information on how they can get involved.

Media Talk, 14:30 – 15:30, ICC Media Centre
Another media interaction session we will be involved in will be hosted by Power FM business presenter and entrepreneur, Andile Khumalo. This media panel session will have a special focus on Small Business and the Economics of tourism. The panel members will also include KZN MEC Michael Mabuyakhulu and TEP CEO, Dr. Salifou Siddo.
